Welcome to the Christmas Villages page that has all of the villages that start with the letter:

Gimbel's:

Quick History: Gimbel's was a department store that operated from 1887 to 1987.  Most people know Gimbel's due to a store with the same name being featured on the movie Elf that was released in 2003.  The Gimbel's store has also made appearances in the TV shows of The Goldbergs, The Umbrella Academy as well as the movie Miracle on 34th Street.

This building below was released as part of the movie Elf, but it is based upon a real store so it is indeed listed on the website.

Girl Scouts Camp:

Quick History: The Girl Scouts Camp is being considered a real place because there are many different Girl Scouts Camps that operate across the US each year.

Globe Theatre:

Quick History: The picture above is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, in which the original William Shakespeare wrote his plays.  The one that was produced and listed below is said to be similar to what the original looked like.

Goodwill:

Quick History: Goodwill is a real company that is a thrift store.  This company operates all across the United States as of October of 2024.

Good Humor Ice Cream:

Quick History: Good Humor Ice Cream first started in the early 1920's.  It used to involve an ice cream truck and someone driving around selling the ice cream.  However, as of October of 2022 it is now just a brand of ice cream that is sold in many stores across the United States.

Goodyear Blimp:

Quick History: The Goodyear Blimp is indeed a real thing that is owned by the Goodyear company.  The Goodyear blimp has been around since 1925.  As of October of 2022 Goodyear still has blimps that are used to help promote the Goodyear brand.

Grand Central Railway Station:

Quick History: Grand Central is indeed based upon Grand Central Station that is based in New York City.

Grand Theater:

Quick History: Honestly, this one was a hard piece to determine if it was based upon a real location.  However, after doing some research it is being placed on the website because from my understanding this piece was created based upon the theater.  Thus meaning that the Village piece is indeed based upon a real place.
